JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for establishing and implementing the Packaging strategy across all EPD brands to ensure Packaging is fully leveraged to support business objectives. Collaborative business partner within EPD, across Abbott Divisions, and industry partners to deliver Packaging solutions that drive competitive advantage, operational efficiency, and profitability. Effectively manages and provides leadership across a matrix organization to drive alignment of packaging objectives and optimal use of resources. Responsible to ensure all key Packaging goals are delivered, all standards, practices and procedures comply with any applicable regulations and policies, and customer requirements are met.

Key accountabilities include:
* Global responsibility for nearly 2000 pharmaceutical packaging SKUs worldwide. These SKUs are sold in over 130 countries, and generate nearly $5 Billion in sales annually. This position has direct accountability to ensure EPD delivers on business objectives and will make decisions that impact sales and margin.
* Provides leadership to identify & implement efficiency initiatives to improve the effectiveness of $70 Million in annual spending for EPD global packaging. Must have ability to collaborate with executive Abbott Procurement leadership and represent Abbott with senior leaders of external suppliers.
* Direct responsibility to ensure New Product Introductions (>300 per year) comply with all packaging requirements.
* Effective communication with all levels throughout the organization is required, as the position will be involved in a wide variety of key initiatives and activities that impact business objectives and strategies. The successful incumbent will have the opportunity in this role to exercise strategic judgment while gaining executive level exposure across all Abbott divisions.
* Effectively manage and lead a highly (and globally) matrixed organization to ensure organizational alignment on business needs and objectives.
* Leadership as divisional interface to corporate environmental programs that drive packaging sustainability initiatives for enhanced Abbott brand reputation. Key contributor to Global Citizenship reports and Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) submission.
* Incumbent will serve as the division lead for anti-counterfeiting efforts across all pharmaceutical products.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 15+ years’ experience within Packaging related organization and demonstrated effective leadership responsibilities and competencies. A strong background in package engineering is highly preferred. Continuing leadership and technical development is necessary. Incumbent must be aware of rapidly evolving technologies and foster levering external benchmarking and best practices. Incumbent must also be capable of managing a diverse group of individuals where cultrural sensitivty on a global basis is required.

EDUCATION:
BS/BA Degree in Packaging, Engineering, or related technical field. MBA strongly preferred due to the business complexity and strategic focus of the position.
