Overview

Huawei Telecommunications is seeking an individual with deep expertise in 24x7 Oracle database operations and administration. Strong tuning skills are a critical requirement for this role. While we're looking for an individual who can handle emergencies, the ideal candidate will have a strong dedication to process, standardization, documentation, and minimizing the risk of emergency situations. As a member of a team dedicated to maintaining superior service for our customers, a positive outlook is essential.
DBA must possess demonstrated knowledge in Oracle/Unix environments. Performs ongoing database administration tasks including database reorgs, routine maintenance, performance tuning, software installation, database migrations, and backup/recovery.
Should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Should have experience modifying SQL and PL/SQL, creating/modifying procedures, triggers, etc. Should be able to modify/create shell scripts. Strong knowledge of backup/recovery processes is a must. Good communication and project management skills are essential

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Manage and support 100+ Oracle production databases, as well as standby’s and development copies
• Provide response for all database issues. This position includes a rotating on-call 24 x 7 schedule responding to critical events and situations outside normal work hours.
• Search out and implement new technologies to continually simplify the environment while improving security, scalability, availability, and performance.
• Monitor database activity and file usage, and ensure necessary resources are present.
• Optimize database accessibility by developing load balancing/high availability architectures and processes to eliminate down time.
• Plan, test, and install upgrades/patches of Oracle software as necessary.
• Administer, maintain, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the availability, security and integrity of the Oracle databases.
• Develop and administer backup and recovery procedures. .
• Develop scripts for database monitoring and to automate routine tasks.
• Perform data management tasks as required, such as loading, restoring and moving data to support our client implementation teams.
• Tune SQL code and assisting developers in writing and tuning SQL queries.
• Interact with Oracle support to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Computer Science and Technology
• Superior Oracle technical skills,
• Strong SQL programming, PL/SQL, and perl scripting skills
• Strong Linux skills
• Data warehouse design and experience with MS SQL Server is a plus
• Oracle Performance Tuning experience required
• Database security/encryption experience is preferable
