We are seeking for a person with specialization in Communication and Media to work on a USAID-funded civil society and governance program in Guatemala that aims to strengthen and develop the capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Guatemala.

Person in charge to play a more effective role in citizen security, governance and corruption. Will support the project by providing training, advice and technical expertise in Guatemalan civil society organizations and journalists across the country.
Also help CSOs develop outreach and participation strategies to work with traditional and digital media advocacy activities for a variety of issues, including gender equity. Will also work with journalists in data journalism and investigative reporting skills, develop and disseminate anti-corruption tools and strengthen the capacity of Guatemalan journalists in traditional and digital media.

Summary of Responsibilities:
-Provide technical expertise to the project management team on relevant program design issues.
-Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the challenges and problems faced by the media and effective communications in Guatemala.
-Design and conduct technical trainings and hire and supervise consultants to conduct training on the use of social media, technology for promotion, anti-corruption and working with the media.
-Work with project management, local partners and local staff to devise directions for the growth of current projects and design new strategies to assist Guatemalan CSOs.
-Cultivate relations with relevant local and international media and other partners.
-Support efforts in project planning, budgets and administrative matters.
-Represent IREX publicly and support its organizational development.

Requerimos

Skills and Qualities:

-US VISA
-Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or related field preferred.
- Seven years (minimum) of experience in strengthening civil society, with specialization in communication and work with the media
- Extensive experience in media training for CSOs, communication with the media and design and implementation of advocacy and participation campaigns
Proven experience leveraging innovative technology and social marketing tools to deliver key messages
-A strong familiarity with the networks of trust in the entire technology and media landscape of Guatemala
- Experience was sought with development projects financed by international donors, particularly in Guatemala and / or Latin American countries;
-Experience in the design, planning, management and delivery of technical assistance, technical training and consultations with CSOs;
-Exalted verbal and written communication, interpersonal and intercultural skills required.
Demonstrated leadership, integrity and versatility.
-Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks at once, and able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Authorization is required to work in Guatemala.
-Professional competence in Spanish and English required.
