Desktop Publisher / Graphic Artist


Job Functions:
• Operate as a member of the proposal production team working as key person on small bids and/or with other Proposal Coordinator (PC), Desktop Publishers (DTP), and Graphic Artists (GA)
• Responsible, in conjunction with Proposal Manager, and sometimes also with Production Coordinator, for establishing the look and feel of all proposal documents, as well as the schedule and other deadlines
• Reads solicitation requirements and fills out production notes
• Apply advanced MS Word features, creating solicitation-specific templates and formats all response documents
• Responsible for the publication schedule and establishing production deadlines
• Participates in conference calls/meetings and gathers/communicates information concerning document layout, graphics process, and production process
• Reviews and documents all production-related requirements within the client solicitation and serves as the production interface for the entire proposal team
• Controls and tracks text and graphics using correct processes, ensuring version control
• Interpret art-related requirements of the RFP and serve as the art interface with Production Coordinator and Proposal Manager
• Works with other PCs, DTPs, and GAs to ensure all formatting, page layout, and other such typesetting tasks are complete and compliant to RFP requirements
• Works with PCs, DTPs and GAS to ensure all graphic images are completed and the latest versions are posted in the response to be printed
• Helps PCs to generate labels, covers, and format text in various documents
• Generate graphic design and layout using high-end desktop publishing software including but not limited to: Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop and Illustrator especially), MS PowerPoint, Visio
• Formulates concept and renders illustration and detail from sketches or interviews
• Responsible for creating proposal covers, CD labels, PowerPoint templates and technical illustrations
• Responsible, in conjunction with PC or DTP, to track graphics input for the entire proposal, using the graphic process to ensure version control
• Follow and endorse compliance with company brand guidelines
• Works in conjunction with the PC or DTP to assure all graphic images are high quality and completed on schedule
• Perform special formatting of documents, exhibits, charts, graphics and artwork, as required
• Proof/edit graphics, ensuring high quality proposal products
• Remotely assists PCs and GAs in preparing documents/proposals for review/final reproduction; reproducing, collating, book check, and delivery, as needed
• When required, communicates with vendors to secure supplies and assure on-time completion of work outsourced
• May be required to take on additional responsibilities for smaller proposals, presentations, or collateral projects
• Participation in proposal training, as required
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements:
-Demonstrated advanced skills in formatting MS Word documents with a basic understanding of typesetting and page layout.
-Highly skilled in layout, design, drawing, and other relevant programs including, but not limited to; MS Word, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator), Visio, and PowerPoint.
-Ability to manipulate data in MS Word, Excel, and MS Project.
-Able to work on more than one project at a time and prioritize.
-Willingness to work extended hours and to assist other production staff in meeting deadlines.
-Ability to read and follow specific instructions with minimal errors.
-Proofreading skills, keen attention to detail, and ability to handle stressful situations a must.
-Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience preferred.
